HTML Writers Guild Guides SOP 8

Standard Operating Procedure: SPAM on the Public Lists

Situation

Quite often the difference between SPAM and public service announcements or advertisements is the number of mailing lists it is sent to.

Action

If you see a post that violates either the PSA or Advertising rule and think the Guild's Public lists have been spammed, you should send a TALK: (subject heading) to hwg-lmoms asking if any other List Guides are aware of the post on their list.

Follow-up Activity

Based on the response from List Guides on other lists you may, at your discretion, either send the member a standard INFO post, or send a "REQUEST: Addition to spammers list <email address>" to HWG-Lmoms requesting that the member be removed from all lists and added to the Guild's list of known spammers.
