HTML Writers Guild Guides SOP 7

Standard Operating Procedure: Bounced mail from member accounts

When the mail server cannot contact an email address subscribed to the mailing list, the message is usually bounced back to the original sender. The reason for the bounce may be a temporary disconnection of email service, or permanent disconnection. List Guides do not need to worry about why the mail bounced, only that it occured. You can guarantee that if you received bounced email, then so are the other members who are contributing to the list.

All instances of bounced email should be reported to the List Owner at <> substituting the list name for "list" in the address.

Forward the bounced email message containing full message headers to that address.

Follow-up Activity

There is no follow-up activity in this case. Investigating the problem and taking appropriate action is the responsibility of the List Owner.
